G1 Test Simulator | Practice Like the Real MTO Exam

  • Based on official 2026 Driver’s Handbook
  • Updated for May 2026
  • Perfect for G1 licence and full G driver’s licence
  • Triple-checked for accuracy

Are you ready to take the first step to becoming a licensed driver? Achieving such a milestone will not be easy, but with preparation and determination, any goal is within your reach. In Ontario, residents aged 16 and older can start the graduated driver licensing process, which consists of three stages: G1, G2, and full G. To obtain a G1 licence, you must pass a vision test, pay the necessary fees, provide identification documents and pass a 40-question knowledge exam. With a G1 licence, you’re allowed to drive only if a fully licensed driver with at least four years of driving experience is in your vehicle’s front passenger seat. There are several other restrictions you must follow: no driving between midnight and 5 AM, no driving on 400-series highways or expressways (unless you’re under the supervision of a licensed driving instructor), and you must maintain a zero blood alcohol level. During this time, you will gain behind-the-wheel experience and prepare for the G2 road test (also known as the G1 exit test).

As you begin your learning phase, you build the foundation of your driving skills. There are no shortcuts, and you cannot rely on luck. All questions on the G1 test are multiple choice and based on the official Ontario driver’s handbook, which all aspiring drivers should read at least once. To pass the official G1, you must score at least 80% within a time limit. See if you’re ready to take the official knowledge exam by practising on our G1 Test Simulator. It lets you simulate the official testing experience on your device anytime, anywhere in the world. All you need is a stable internet connection and access to a browser.

You will not receive any help, and there are no hints. Once you begin a session, you’re on your own. If you make too many mistakes, the test ends immediately, and you’ll have to try again. For your convenience, we have omitted any timer to let you think and carefully read each question before you select an answer. Start today and study the official handbook thoroughly. Use our G1 Practice Tests to master driving theory and dedicate the following weeks to your learning phase. We recommend adopting a systematic approach and creating an optimized study schedule. At the end of your study sessions, you can use our G1 Test Simulator to evaluate your knowledge. Keep track of your score and see it naturally improve with time. Once you consistently achieve passing scores, you’ll be ready to take the official exam.

Before using the G1 simulator

The simulator is most useful after topic review, not as the first study step.

The real G1 knowledge test has two sections

You need to pass both road signs and rules, so a strong total score can still hide a weak section.

Simulator misses should become a topic list

Group missed questions by penalties, signs, intersections or conditions before retaking exam mode.

Steady scores matter more than one pass

Use exam mode when practice scores are consistent rather than after one lucky result.

How to use the G1 test simulator

Use it as a final readiness check after mixed practice.

1
Warm up with late mixed tests
Use G1 Practice Test 4 and G1 Practice Test 5 before relying on simulator results.
2
Check both sections
Make sure signs and rules are both stable, not only the combined score.
3
Repair repeated misses
If the same topic repeats, leave exam mode and use a focused set before trying again.
